Supporting Arctic Wildlife Research with Tycon Systems® Technology

Supporting Arctic Wildlife Research: Tycon Systems® is proud to support groundbreaking Arctic wildlife research by providing advanced technology to enhance monitoring efforts. Our equipment plays a vital role in studying polar bears in some of the harshest environments on Earth. Currently, researchers are using our TP-SW8-D, TP-VRHP-1256, and TPDIN-Monitor-WEB in their specialized Polar Bear observation boxes located in northern Canada and Svalbard, Norway.

Advanced Monitoring for Polar Bear Conservation

Deploying High-Tech Surveillance Systems – Every spring, Polar Bears International installs up to six HD camera systems directly in front of polar bear dens in the Arctic. These sophisticated surveillance setups allow researchers to document vital behavioral patterns while minimizing human disturbance. Studying Female and Cub Behavior – Researchers closely monitor female polar bears and their cubs at den sites. By analyzing recorded footage, they gain deeper insights into maternal habits, cub development, and environmental influences affecting these populations. Calibrating Scientific Instruments – The project also helps calibrate data collected from polar bear collar accelerometers and temperature sensors. These devices provide valuable metrics for tracking movement, activity levels, and physiological responses to environmental changes.

Reliable Equipment for Extreme Conditions

Powering Essential Research Technology – Our TP-SW8-D, TP-VRHP-1256, and TPDIN-Monitor-WEB devices ensure that the camera systems receive stable power via PoE. This reliable energy source supports uninterrupted video recording, enabling researchers to capture high-resolution 4K footage of polar bear activity throughout the denning season. Long-Term Autonomous Operation – Once deployed, these cameras function independently for extended periods ranging from 8 to 12 weeks. Researchers can leave the observation area without disrupting wildlife behavior, allowing the equipment to document valuable data either tethered to the internet or operating autonomously.

Commitment to Wildlife Conservation

At Tycon Systems®, we are honored to support conservation efforts that contribute to the protection of Arctic wildlife. By providing reliable power and monitoring solutions, we help organizations like Polar Bears International conduct critical research, ensuring that valuable insights can lead to informed conservation strategies.
