PoE Injectors / Inserters

Tycon Power® offers a broad line of AC input and DC input injectors for almost any PoE application.

Power Your Network

Power Over Ethernet (PoE) Injectors/inserters are used to provide power to network devices over CAT5+ Ethernet cable. The main advantage to this approach is that a single cable can be run to supply both high speed data and power.

Performance and Reliability

In addition to performance and reliability, Tycon®’s PoE injectors are engineered with user convenience in mind. Compact and lightweight designs allow for flexible installation, with a broad spectrum of devices. By combining advanced technology with practical features, Tycon Systems® delivers a cost-effective solution for powering network devices, enhancing overall system efficiency and reducing operational costs.

Flexibility

Devices, commonly used in IT and telecommunications, are essential for powering equipment such as IP cameras, wireless access points, VoIP phones, and other network devices without needing separate power cables. By simplifying cabling requirements, PoE injectors improve installation efficiency and reduce costs, making them a popular choice for modern network infrastructures.

Device Integration

PoE injectors work by injecting power into the Ethernet cable, typically at a central location near the network switch or router. They come in various configurations, supporting different power standards such as IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at, and 802.3bt, which dictate the maximum power output (up to 100W for 802.3bt). Some injectors are single-port, designed for individual devices, while others are multi-port, capable of powering several devices simultaneously. PoE injectors are a practical and scalable solution, especially in environments where running separate electrical wiring is challenging or costly. Their reliability and versatility make them an essential component for deploying efficient and connected systems in smart buildings and beyond.

Unique Features

Another unique feature of our DC input PoE Inserters is they have a battery save feature to shut down to zero current if battery voltage is too low. The AC and DC injectors have built in surge protection.

PoE Lighting

PoE Lighting involves powering and controlling LED lights over CAT5+ Ethernet cable.

A Revolutionary Approach

Power over Ethernet (PoE) lighting is a revolutionary approach to modern lighting systems that leverages Ethernet cables to deliver both power and data to LED light fixtures. By integrating lighting with network infrastructure, PoE lighting provides an efficient, flexible, and intelligent solution for managing illumination in commercial, industrial, and even residential spaces. This technology not only simplifies installation by eliminating the need for traditional electrical wiring but also enables advanced functionalities through centralized control and connectivity.

IoT Capability

A PoE lighting system typically consists of LED fixtures connected to a PoE switch or injector, which supplies low-voltage power and communication over a single Ethernet cable. This connectivity enables seamless integration with Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, allowing users to remotely control and monitor lighting systems via software or mobile apps. Features like dimming, color temperature adjustments, occupancy sensing, and daylight harvesting can be automated or manually configured to enhance energy efficiency and occupant comfort. Moreover, the centralized control capability of PoE lighting systems supports scalability and adaptability, making them ideal for dynamic spaces where lighting needs may change over time.

Energy Savings

Beyond operational benefits, PoE lighting systems offer significant cost savings. The energy-efficient nature of LEDs, combined with precise control over usage, can lead to substantial reductions in electricity bills. Installation costs are also lower, as Ethernet cabling is less expensive and more versatile than traditional electrical wiring. Furthermore, the ability to monitor energy consumption and integrate with building management systems (BMS) makes PoE lighting an attractive option for organizations aiming to achieve sustainability goals.

Reduced Maintenance

The technology also promotes safety and ease of maintenance. Since PoE systems operate at low voltage, the risk of electrical hazards is minimized. Troubleshooting and updates can be managed remotely, reducing downtime and labor costs. As smart buildings become the standard, PoE lighting is poised to play a pivotal role in creating energy-efficient, responsive, and interconnected environments.

PoE Splitters

Tycon® PoE Splitters take a PoE input and split out the data and power on separate connectors. A PoE Splitter is mainly used to power devices that are not capable of PoE, but it is desired to save cost by running only a single CAT5+ cable and also to future proof the installation.

Funtionality

In a standard PoE system, both power and data are transmitted simultaneously to devices like IP cameras, wireless access points, and VoIP phones. However, not all devices are equipped to receive power through an Ethernet port. PoE splitters address this limitation by extracting the power and providing it as a separate output, while still delivering data to the device.

Legacy Device Integration

PoE splitters are commonly used in situations where legacy or low-power devices need to be integrated into a PoE network. For example, an older surveillance camera without PoE capabilities can be connected to a PoE switch using a splitter. The splitter will send the data stream directly to the camera while converting and supplying the power as a separate connection, typically using a DC barrel jack or another standard power interface. This eliminates the need for additional electrical wiring, making installation more efficient and reducing overall infrastructure costs.

Variety of Configurations

Available in a variety of configurations, PoE splitters support different power standards, including IEEE 802.3af (15.4W), 802.3at (30W), and 802.3bt (up to 60-100W). These features make them versatile and adaptable for a wide range of applications, from powering small IoT devices to integrating larger equipment into smart building systems.

Network Scalability

In addition to their functional advantages, PoE splitters contribute to overall network flexibility and scalability. They allow organizations to leverage the benefits of PoE technology even when upgrading to entirely PoE-compatible hardware isn’t feasible. This can be particularly useful in retrofitting existing setups or expanding networks incrementally. By bridging the gap between PoE and non-PoE devices, splitters ensure seamless integration, helping organizations build robust and cost-effective network solutions.

PoE Switches

Tycon Power® PoE Network Switches are capable of powering and supplying data to multiple devices with a single network input. Tycon® PoE Switches are Industrial Strength for operation in harsh temperature environments.

Connected Power

Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches are network devices that combine the functionality of a traditional Ethernet switch with the ability to provide power to connected devices through the same Ethernet cable. This dual capability makes PoE switches an essential component in modern network infrastructures, enabling efficient, centralized power distribution for devices like IP cameras, wireless access points, VoIP phones, and IoT devices. By eliminating the need for separate power adapters and electrical outlets, PoE switches simplify installation, reduce cable clutter, and lower overall deployment costs.

Configurable

PoE switches come in a variety of configurations to meet different networking needs. They can range from small, unmanaged switches with a few ports, ideal for home or small business use, to larger, fully managed enterprise-grade switches with dozens of ports and advanced features like VLAN support, QoS (Quality of Service), and network monitoring capabilities. Depending on the power requirements of connected devices, PoE switches are built to support different PoE standards, including IEEE 802.3af (up to 15.4W per port), 802.3at (up to 30W per port), and 802.3bt (up to 60-100W per port), ensuring compatibility with a wide range of devices.

Enhanced Reliability

oreover, PoE switches enhance reliability and safety. Since power is delivered over low-voltage Ethernet cables, there’s a reduced risk of electrical hazards. Additionally, centralized power management means that backup power solutions like uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) can ensure uninterrupted operation during outages. Whether for a small office or a large enterprise, PoE switches are a versatile, efficient, and forward-thinking choice for powering and connecting modern networks.

Scalability & Adaptability

One of the key advantages of PoE switches is their scalability and adaptability, which make them ideal for both small-scale and large-scale deployments. For instance, in smart building environments, PoE switches can power and connect a wide array of devices, from lighting systems and sensors to digital signage and security systems, all through a unified network. Managed PoE switches offer additional control, allowing administrators to remotely monitor power usage, prioritize critical devices, and even schedule power delivery to optimize energy efficiency.
