Belgium Construction Site: A Tycon Systems® Case Study

The Challenge:
Managing workforce activity across large construction sites requires precise tracking, real-time communication, and strict compliance with government regulations. In Belgium, construction companies must ensure that every worker and contractor on-site is properly registered, as non-compliance can result in fines of up to $8,000 per individual.

This creates a high-stakes environment where reliability is critical. Site managers need accurate, real-time data on who is entering and leaving each location, while also maintaining continuous communication with centralized systems and government platforms. At the same time, the solution must operate efficiently within dynamic construction environments where infrastructure can be limited or constantly changing.
The Solution:
To meet these requirements, the system integrates the Tycon Systems® UPS-PL1212-18 as a central power and control unit within each construction site deployment. Each unit is powered by a combination of 220V input and PoE infrastructure, delivering reliable energy to a fully integrated system that includes a 3G router, controller, badge reader, and a secured reset mechanism. The badge reader plays a key role in tracking worker activity, requiring personnel to badge in upon arrival and badge out when leaving the site. The collected data is transmitted through a custom-built online platform, enabling real-time monitoring of workforce activity. This platform communicates directly with government systems to verify worker registration and compliance, while also distributing reports to HR departments, site managers, and supplier invoice control teams.

Additionally, the system is capable of triggering automated workflows when new workers or companies arrive on-site, and it dynamically updates evacuation plans based on the number and type of workers present.
