Temporary and remote projects often need substantial electrical power before permanent infrastructure is available. MobileSolarPro® systems bring solar generation, battery storage, power electronics, mast-mounted equipment, and field-ready outputs together on transportable trailer and skid platforms. What Is a Mobile Solar Power Platform?

A mobile solar platform is more than a solar panel mounted on a trailer. The complete system needs to generate energy, store it, regulate charging, distribute the correct output voltage, protect the electronics, and provide a practical structure for transporting and deploying the equipment.

Depending on the configuration, MobileSolarPro® systems can combine:

Mobility Is Only Useful if the Power System Matches the Load

A trailer for two cameras and a cellular router has very different requirements from a platform supporting lighting, multiple radios, sensors, or higher-power electronics. Solar capacity, battery storage, mast height, output voltage, PoE requirements, runtime, and charging options should be selected around the actual deployment.

MobileSolarPro® Mini: Compact Mobile Power

MobileSolarPro® Mini trailers provide a compact platform for applications that need towable solar power without the size of a higher-capacity trailer.

MobileSolarPro® Mini-3P: More Solar on a Compact Trailer

Mini-3P configurations increase solar-panel capacity while retaining the smaller trailer format. This can be useful where the application needs more daily solar generation or faster battery recovery without moving to the larger Beast platform.

The right choice between a standard Mini and Mini-3P depends on the equipment load, site sunlight, battery capacity, desired autonomy, and the amount of energy that needs to be restored during available charging hours.

MobileSolarPro® Beast: Higher-Capacity Mobile Power

Beast trailers are intended for more demanding mobile applications that need greater solar generation and battery capacity.

These larger configurations can be appropriate for:

  • Multiple cameras and network devices
  • Higher-power communications equipment
  • Temporary lighting
  • Emergency-response equipment
  • Industrial field systems
  • Applications requiring more battery autonomy

Larger capacity does not automatically make the Beast the correct platform for every project. Trailer size, towing requirements, equipment load, deployment duration, battery chemistry, and available solar energy should all be considered.

MobileSolarPro® Skids: Portable Power Without a Towable Trailer

Some sites need portable solar power but do not need or want a road-towable trailer. Skid systems provide another option.

MobileSolarPro® skids combine solar generation, battery storage, enclosure electronics, mast capability, and field power on a compact base that can be moved with suitable site equipment such as a forklift or pallet jack.

Mobile Power Does Not Always Need Wheels
MobileSolarPro® skid systems provide solar generation, battery storage, mast capability and field power for industrial yards, utilities, campuses and remote sites where forklift or site-equipment movement is more practical than trailer towing.

Skids can be a strong fit for industrial yards, utilities, temporary monitoring locations, remote equipment staging, and other sites where the platform may move occasionally but does not need to travel regularly on public roads.

Battery Storage: SLA or Lithium

MobileSolarPro® configurations are available with sealed lead-acid and lithium battery options. Battery chemistry affects usable storage, weight, temperature performance, charging requirements, cycle behavior, maintenance, and cost.

Lithium may provide useful weight and usable-capacity advantages for some deployments, while SLA remains appropriate for others. The correct battery should be selected around the operating environment and application rather than assuming one chemistry is always superior.

Runtime is determined by the complete battery capacity and equipment load, so storage should be sized around the actual devices mounted on the platform.

Solar Charging Plus AC Backup Charging

Solar provides the normal renewable charging source in the field, but some deployments benefit from having another way to charge the battery bank.

Current MobileSolarPro® systems can include AC charging input, allowing the batteries to be charged from grid power or a generator when site conditions or operating requirements make that useful.

This gives operators another option during extended low-sun conditions, unusually high equipment demand, staging, or pre-deployment charging.

Elevated Equipment With Pneumatic Masts

Many mobile-power applications need more than electrical energy. Cameras, radios, antennas, lights, and sensors often perform better when they can be elevated above surrounding vehicles, structures, vegetation, or equipment.

MobileSolarPro® platforms can be configured with pneumatic mast systems that elevate compatible equipment while keeping the solar-array structure separate from the mast assembly.

Mast height, equipment weight, wind conditions, mounting requirements, communications coverage, and deployment environment should all be considered when selecting the mast configuration.

PoE Makes Mobile Surveillance and Networking Easier

Cameras, wireless access points, radios, and other network devices frequently use Power over Ethernet. MobileSolarPro® systems can include PoE distribution at the mast, allowing compatible equipment to receive both network data and electrical power through Ethernet cabling.

This can simplify installation when multiple cameras or communications devices need to be mounted above the equipment enclosure.

Remote Monitoring Helps Manage Deployed Systems

Mobile platforms may be deployed at sites that are not continuously staffed. Remote power monitoring can therefore provide useful visibility into how the system is operating.

Supported configurations can provide information such as:

  • Solar voltage and current
  • Battery voltage and current
  • Load current
  • Temperature
  • Equipment status
  • Remote load control

Monitoring does not replace proper sizing or field inspection, but it can help operators identify changes before sending personnel to the deployment.
