Tycon Systems Turns 19: Celebrating Innovation in Industrial Energy

Since 2008, Tycon Systems® has focused on a practical engineering problem: how to keep cameras, radios, networking equipment, sensors, monitoring hardware, and other field electronics powered when conventional infrastructure is unavailable or unreliable.

Nearly two decades later, that same problem continues to shape the company. What began as a focus on remote connectivity and power has grown into a broad family of off-grid solar systems, outdoor battery backup, PoE and DC power products, mobile solar platforms, monitoring equipment, batteries, enclosures, and related infrastructure solutions.

Built Around Remote Equipment From the Beginning

Remote installations rarely fail because of one isolated specification. The equipment load, available sunlight, operating voltage, battery reserve, weather, mounting location, communications requirements, and ability to service the site all affect whether a system works once it leaves the bench.

That has led Tycon Systems® toward a system-oriented approach: start with what needs to operate, understand the site, and then select the power architecture around those requirements.

A remote camera, wireless bridge, sensor station, industrial controller, or temporary surveillance platform may all need power, but they do not need the same solution. The site and equipment should determine the architecture before a specific product or part number is selected.

RemotePro®: Off-Grid Power Where Utility Service Is Not Practical

RemotePro® grew around one of the most common field-power challenges: equipment that needs to operate where dependable utility power simply is not available.

Current RemotePro® systems combine solar generation, battery storage, charge control, outdoor enclosure protection, mounting, and related power hardware for applications such as security cameras, wireless networking, sensors, telemetry, communications equipment, and industrial field electronics.

UPSPro®: Outdoor Backup Power for Existing Infrastructure

Not every remote site needs solar as its primary energy source. Many cameras, radios, access points, controllers, and communications devices already have AC, DC, or PoE power but need to remain operational when that source is interrupted.

UPSPro® addresses that different problem with outdoor battery backup systems designed around field equipment and harsh installation environments.

Tycon Power®: Delivering the Right Power to Network Equipment

As network equipment moved farther into the field, power delivery became another important part of remote-system design.

Tycon Power® products include PoE injectors, PoE switches, DC power supplies, voltage converters, surge protection, and related equipment used to connect cameras, radios, access points, routers, network devices, and other electronics to the available power source.

These components are especially useful when the battery voltage, equipment voltage, and required network-power standard do not naturally match.

From Individual Components to Complete Systems

One of the important changes over the years has been the move from solving individual power problems toward integrating complete field systems.

A modern remote deployment may combine mechanical design, solar generation, batteries, DC conversion, PoE, communications, monitoring, enclosures, wiring, and mounting. Designing those elements together can make installation and long-term service considerably more practical.

Some applications need more than a stationary off-grid power system. Construction sites, security operations, communications projects, utilities, events, and emergency deployments may need substantial power that can move as the project changes.

MobileSolarPro® extends the same remote-power approach to trailers and skid-mounted platforms that can combine solar generation, battery storage, mast systems, PoE, monitoring, communications, lighting, and customer-supplied electronics.
